Although landscapes were my priority whilst in New Zealand, if you know me, I ensured I had a macro lens with me. Whilst there, I saw (and heard) MANY bumblebees. Although not native, they were the predominant bee species I saw. Photographing them was a challenge. I did not have my flash brackets so the challenge was to have a camera in one hand and a wirelessly triggered flash in the other, and then try to shoot a small irregularly moving subject and get it in focus. I would have been happy with one successful shot. Patience (and some frustration) was rewarded with me getting quite a few.
